Several new opportunities for housing are popping up throughout the city. Here’s a look at a few that will be available soon.

Williamsburg Project Opens Lotto for 104 Affordable Apartments

The Domino Sugar megaproject has opened its lottery application for 104 affordable apartments in Williamsburg. The whimsically-designed rental building will feature a mix of studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments available for as little as $596 per month to those with an annual income between $21,772 and $25,400. The two-bedroom units, which are designated for families, are available for $979 per month for those with an annual income between $34,972 and $54,360.

Located at 325 Kent Avenue, the building will offer a total of 500 apartments as well as office space. Altogether, the redevelopment project will span across 600,000 square feet and will be home to 2,800 apartments.

Rockrose Development in Queens Offers Affordable Rentals

The 50-story Rockrose Development in Queens is slated to offer 195 affordable housing apartments. Located at 43-25 Hunter Street, the development was once set to be the tallest building in the borough. While taller buildings have since been built, the Rockrose Development will still boast an impressive 974 units.

Of the affordable units included in the development, 70 are to be studios, 91 are to be one-bedroom units and 34 are to be two-bedroom units. The studios will be available for $913 per month to those making between $32,640 and $38,100 per year while the one-bedroom units will be available for $980 to those making between $34,971 and $43,500 per year. The two-bedroom apartments will be available for $1,183 per month to those making between $41,965 and $54,360 per year.

Officially known as The Hayden and designed by SLCE Architects, the completed tower will stand at 535-feet tall. Amenities will include a basketball court, a rooftop solarium and a screening room. The project is expected to be completed in 2017.

Crown Heights Development Brings 500 Apartments to the Area

The Department of City Planning is considering a proposal to build taller residential buildings than what the current zoning allows Crown Heights. If approved, the project will consist of two buildings bringing 500 apartments to the neighborhood. The first of these two towers, which will be located at 40 Crown Street, will stand 16 stories tall and will have as many as 390 apartments. 105 of these will be affordable units. The building will also have 15,000-square-feet of retail space. The second building, which will be 16-stories tall, would be located at 931 Carroll Street. This building would have 128 apartments, with 35 being affordable.

Williamsburg Bank Site to Become Home to Apartment Building

The former Williamsburg bank site will soon be home to a 27-story apartment building offering 226 apartments and six floors of office space. Located at 525 Broadway in Williamsburg, Blesso Properties purchased the former Lincoln Savings Bank site for $33 million last year. Original plans called for developing a ten-story building with 36 residential units and some retail space. The project has now morphed into a 27-story mixed-use building with office space taking up 126,410 square feet. The average unit size for the building is just 670 square feet, while some apartments will have their own private terraces.
